Outbreaks THE SETUP: Have disease, will travel. These doctors from the National Institutes of Health swoop via copter onto ground zero of any mystifying epidemic, playing detective as they try to trace the origin of the contagion and contain it before it spreads. THE TWIST: The local docs are rarely happy to have their turf invaded, especially by arrogant team leader Dr. Stephen Connor (McDonough). WE SAY: This procedural medical mystery is at times as generic as its clinical title. But there's suspenseful urgency to these scary cases, and the cast is strong, including the welcome return of Boomtown's intense McDonough as another flawed hero and The Practice's Williams as his more stable partner. THE OUTLOOK: CSI took off on Fridays. It could happen again. |

FACTOR WILLIAMS: My dad's a plastic surgeon. I grew up watching surgery. I'd put on a mask and talk to him as he was breaking a person's nose. |
